Today a few of the studios artists from Location 1980 headed to the beach to paint in plein-air. While setting up our easels I spotted a mermaid. So I decided to include her in my painting!
Wednesday Nights at Location 1980 we host a life-drawing workshop. Often times I’ll take the work that I produce (usually a series of figures painted on wood panel) with me the next day to paint in plein-air. Often I paint over the figurative pieces and hide them forever. But on occasion one of the figures will fit into the landscape so I just go with it. Today I turned Marley into a Mermaid!
Here is the finished painting, I’d love to hear your comments or answer any questions you may have about my process!
